Being able to chew gum and walk at the same time is a cinch now that we are well into the age of multi-screen consumption. Last night, you were most likely in bed watching Gilmore Girls on TV, while checking your email on your mobile phone for the latest laser hair removal Groupon. Today, at work, you were probably on your laptop watching the newest SNL skit YOLO, while checking out some random Facebook event invite on your mobile phone called “I’m not sure who you are, but I’ll invite you anyway PARTY.”
According to this info-graphic by Uberflip, 81% of Americans use a smartphone and watch TV simultaneously. This is a huge percentage and really emphasizes the importance of a cohesive cross-platform marketing strategy in order to capitalize on these new viewing habits. As marketers, it is important that we recognize this and start to address it, unless you want to be unemployed in 2014.
P.S. Unlike a lot of the other info-graphics you may find, it looks like Uberflip did their job and used quit a few reputable sources to come up with all these numbers.
