California Clean Air Day is October 2: How We’re Practicing What We Preach

Sep 27, 2019  |  By Pete Levine  |

At Civilian we take a hard stance on a few things:

1. We seek first to understand before we try to be understood.

2. We are pro-dog: the more the merrier.

And most importantly, we believe:

3. Where there’s a WE there’s a WAY.

This isn’t just a pithy and inspiring rally cry that’s posted on our website—it’s our guiding principle.

As a Certified B Corp, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of social and environmental impact.

As part of this commitment, we strive to be cognizant of and reduce our carbon footprint.  So much so that the majority of our office is taking a pledge to ditch our cars and take the chariot of the people (public transportation) on Wednesday October 2nd to take part in California’s Clean Air Day and to show support for our client by participating in MTS Free Ride Day.

Office transit expert Sean Connacher will also be taking us through graphics and statistics to emphasize the impact that a slight shift in behavior (taking public transportation, carpooling, and keeping cars off the road) can have a major impact on air quality and our environment.

Throughout the day we’ll be documenting our journey via Instagram @civilianagency. We’ll put the factory on hold while we board the #28 bus, head west to attend the official Free Ride Day event in Old Town, and grab lunch after.

Apologies in advance if you see tumbleweed near our headquarters in Liberty Station. We promise to be back early in the afternoon after we’ve made our small attempt to make a collective difference.  Let us know if you want to come along for the ride.
