Joe Camero. A well-traveled (Gen Xer) PR practitioner, Joe reached his career goal of placing a story in all of California’s designated media areas including Yuma/El Centro (#166). Most importantly, he hopes to see the Padres win the World Series and the Cal Bears in the Rose Bowl before he dies. Also, he’s pro-AP Style Guide and never takes San Diego burritos for granted.
When you were 10 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
NASCAR driver. I wanted to go fast and drive Darrell Waltrip’s 88 car!
A social cause you care deeply about and why?
Voting Rights. There should be no infringement on a U.S. Citizen’s right to vote. This is our voice and power within a democracy, and many people have sacrificed for this right.
If you could earn a living doing anything else, what would it be?
Photographer. I would like to capture ephemeral moments.
You can invite 3 people from either present day or history to break bread with, who would it be and why?
- My great grandfather on my dad’s side. I have so many unanswered questions about my family’s history.
- Anthony Bourdain. Good eats and conversation.
- Ulysses S. Grant. He bore the weight of reconstruction and reuniting the country, and I just saw a docuseries about him.
In 5 words, describe yourself? (must use all 5….no more…no less)
