Content Writer (Hybrid)

Job Overview
Responsible for developing written content that is clear, compelling, and tailored for the intended audience. The Content Writer works closely with subject-matter experts and agency staff to develop, write, and edit campaign content, including copy for collateral materials, the website, and other campaign communications as needed. This will include establishing and upholding a voice for campaign content and maintaining consistency of terminology and usage across the campaign. This role reports to the Director of Client Services and partners closely with the Communications, Strategy, and Creative departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce strong, engaging marketing content for clients, including collateral content, website copy, newsletter articles, blog posts, and social media content.
  • Edit documents and collateral material prepared by staff members for content, clarity, and voice consistency, recommending revisions and editorial standards as appropriate.
  • Distill complex concepts into content that is easily understood at multiple levels.
  • Optimize articles for SEO and accessibility.
  • Identify gaps in a client’s existing content library and recommend new topics and formats.
  • Help create style guides for client writing to ensure alignment and consistency.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in content writing
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Problem-solver with excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Able to cultivate optimal interdepartmental relationships
  • Good listener who includes and engages others
  • Able to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Exhibits professionalism, initiative, and commitment
  • Experience producing well-crafted copy for a variety of audiences, education, and engagement levels.
  • Must know how to use content to connect emotionally with a variety of groups from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to ideate, gather, and organize ideas into carefully crafted stories and content that inspires audiences to take our desired action
  • Expertise using language to change perceptions, build support for causes, and encourage action
  • Ability to write short and succinct copy that keeps the reader engaged
  • Ability to capture both newsworthy angles and commercially targeted content
  • Understanding of spelling and grammar rules and how to construct clear sentences for flow, readability, and sentence variety
  • An understanding of search engine optimization best practices
  • Ability to research swiftly and effectively
  • Ability to write quickly and consistently meet tight deadlines

 Location
This position is a hybrid role based in San Diego, California. Remote working options with in-office Wednesdays and biweekly half-day Fridays for collaboration and team building.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary Range:  $65,000 – $75,000, depending on experience.
