The Job
The Account Executive serves as the client advocate focusing on the “why and what” and works in close partnership with the Project Manager, who serves as the agency advocate and focuses on the “how and when.” Responsible for serving as a liaison between the client and the agency to ensure client goals and needs are met on a daily basis. Develops client relationships, coordinates client interactions, and manages client budget, while assisting in strategic quality control for the client’s bottom line.

Responsibilities:

Client Services (90%):

  • Develop strong working relationship with clients, earning their respect, confidence, and most importantly, trust.
  • Independently support Supervisors and SAEs on small to mid-range projects.
  • Proactively develop knowledge and expertise of client projects, serve as highly knowledgeable resource for client business, industry, contract, deliverables, personalities, and challenges.
  • Coordinate the planning, development and execution of Account Services activities in accordance with the client’s and agency’s objectives and budget.
  • Work with the Account Supervisor/SAE to develop client briefs and brief the project management and creative team on projects; demonstrate fluid understanding and mastery of agency capabilities, outputs, and ability to recommend and sell in where appropriate.
  • Ensure agency systems and procedures are adhered to and/or improved to ensure client expectations are fulfilled while agency profitability is protected.
  • Develop and apply strategic lens towards client business and deliverables and sharing POV and suggestions with manager and client when necessary, shifting from order taker to processing requests and adding value or suggestions
  • Conduct internal reviews of media, creative, digital, and communication team’s work with a critical eye on meeting client expectations, implementing industry best practices, and adherence to the project brief.
  • Lead status meetings, write client conference reports, update “hot lists,” and use agency file server
  • Mastery in ability to manage up to supervisor to keep them abreast of the day-to-day and always presenting thought out, proposed solutions when problems arise.
  • Maintain the Civilian standard of quality across all documents, deliverables, and reports.

Qualifications:

  • 3-4+ years of experience within an advertising agency setting.
  • Ability to manage mid- to large-sized projects autonomously and manage up for larger initiatives
  • Applied experience of advertising agency disciplines, departments, and outputs (especially media); how they work together in an integrated way; and how to sell services in
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; capable of writing and speaking with a clear, concise point-of-view and should be comfortable presenting internally/externally if necessary
  • Experience and mastery with MS office and Google Docs/Charts/Sheets and ability to create clear, client-worthy presentations if necessary
  • Impeccable organizational and project management skills

Location

This position is a hybrid role based in San Diego, California. Remote working options with in-office Wednesdays and biweekly half-day Fridays for collaboration and team building.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000, depending on experience.
